Three weeks passed, and I found myself driving back up to Memphis. Session 8 was on Thursday, October 26th, 2006 at 3:00pm, and I was ready to go.
The last session was so easy on me that it actually left me wanting more. I felt like I could have gone for another few hours. I guess that carried over to this session, because I was feeling unstoppable. That is until Paul told me that we would be doing some detail work on the underside of my arm. Then the memories came rushing back, and I braced myself for impact.
We got started by finishing up the dragon's hind legs. That went really smooth because the outside of my arm isn't too sensitive. After the legs were finished up, we started working on the rest of the cherry blossoms. We got all those done, and then colored in the fur at the tip of the dragon's tail. That was all the big stuff. Then the detail work began.
There were little spots here and there that needed attention, and we got most of them taken care of. One of those spots was on the under side of my arm between the flower petals. The wind bars needed to continue between the petals, so Paul marked where they would be, and got to work. Thank goodness there wasn't much work to do down there because I was not enjoying that needle being back in that spot at all! I got through it though, and that little bit of detail work really makes a difference. The black wind bars between the petals really makes those flowers pop.
Besides the turtle, and some more detail and touch-up work, this tattoo is about done. Amazing!
The pictures were taken the following morning after I removed the bandages and took a shower.
